Testimonials
Sedgley Place is one of the best kept secrets in the state.
I’m in the food business and travel all over Maine. So, I’ve eaten in some of the best restaurants. I can honestly say that nothing compares to the “Sedgley Experience.” At least once a month, I take my wife and two sons to Sedgley Place.
Their menu is constantly changing. And it’s without equal in Maine. The steak, prime rib, veal, lamb, pork and seafood dishes are all just mouth watering. Last month my son devoured the “poached haddock with lobster and shrimp” entrée.
The atmosphere is New England rustic. But it’s not stuffy. You can come in wearing jeans or a three piece suit. And the wait staff is always so attentive. They even know all our names. The owners, Paul and Suzanne, are always present to make sure that everything runs smoothly. For my money, there’s no better food value anywhere.
I would rather go to Sedgley Place than any other restaurant in the area. My husband David and I have been going there for about 10 years now. And whenever we have company visiting, a night out at Sedgley Place is a must.
The food is just out of this world. We love that the menu changes every week. Paul, the chef, is always coming up with different and unique entrees. Recently I had “duck breast with blueberry reduction.” It was heavenly. And the prime rib is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Also, the service is just impeccable - which is so rare nowadays.
Throw in the great price - and it’s a perfect night out. We can’t wait to go back.
It’s so special to have a restaurant of this caliber right here in our backyard. We’ve been going for over 17 years now. And it just keeps getting better and better. I can honestly say that in all that time we’ve never had a bad meal there. Ever! And the portions are so generous that we always take home a doggie bag for dinner the next day.
I’m a romantic at heart, so all the extra touches like a fireplace, candles and flowers on the table really make a difference. And the service can’t be beat. They always make us feel like we’re the only diners at the restaurant. And, for all that you get, it’s impossible to beat the price.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Sedgley Place. My husband George and I go about 2-3 timers a month. The food is always top notch – from the fish to the steak to the fresh organic vegetables from their farm, they never let us down.
And the service is the best we’ve ever had. They’re always so warm and gracious. For our 50th anniversary dinner, they greeted us with roses and champagne.
And you can’t beat the ambiance. Sometimes, we’ll just sit out on the deck sipping a glass of wine before our meal. And it’s so affordable - which keeps us coming back.
